Fallen Officer From Westchester Was 37: Funeral Arrangements Announced

Funeral arrangements for a police officer from Northern Westchester who died suddenly after fighting a two-day illness have been announced

Lieutenant Kenneth Sgroi of the Yorktown Police Department, who died on Monday, Jan. 2 after fighting an illness for about 48 hours, was 37 years old when he died, according to his obituary page. 

A resident of Shrub Oak, Sgroi had been promoted to Lieutenant in July 2022 and was described as an "outstanding" police officer by his department in a post. 

He leaves behind his wife and two young children. 

Visiting hours for Sgroi will be held on Friday, Jan. 6 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home at 945 E Main St. in Shrub Oak. 

A mass will then be held on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights located at 137 Moseman Rd.
